Few months after the breathtaking Caravaggio Exhibition Rome hosts another exceptional event: Vincent Van Gogh!

The great Dutch post-impressionist Vincent van Gogh returns to Rome after more than 20 years with a new comprehensive exhibition at the Vittoriano complex marking the genius of Van Gogh.

From October 8 to February 6, 2011 the Eternal City of Rome is the protagonist of this world class show: “Vincent van Gogh Timeless Countryside – Modern City”

If you love art and plan to visit Rome between October 2010 and February 2011 do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this memorable van Gogh exhibition at the Vittoriano complex in Rome, AKA the Typewriter or Wedding Cake by the Imperial Forum in Rome, showcasing more than 110 masterpieces celebrating art.

The Van Gogh exhibition that runs until Feb. 6th 2011 at the Vittoriano monument in Rome features seventy of Van Gogh’s masterpieces brought together by the exhibition curator Cornelia Homburg, one of the leading experts of the Dutch genius, in cooperation with museums and art galleries from across Europe and North America in addition to some 30 works by other major artists who provided inspiration for his art, from Pissarro and Millet to Cèzanne, Seurat and Gauguin also to highlight Van Gogh’s relationship with past masters and contemporaries.

The bulk of the exhibition focuses on Van Gogh’s own artwork explored through his favorite subject matters and the rural-urban dichotomy: his love for the timeless countryside and its unchanging environment contrasted with his fascination with the fast moving modern city life.

“There won’t be the Van Gogh’s Sunflowers and Still Life” – said Ms. Homburg – “But, next to best known works, audience will also be able to watch for the first time paintings from private collections.”
